This is a very special line of jewelry;
each piece is individually hand carved by Grady,
making it a very unique and wearable piece of art.
Each one has a character all it's own, no two are created alike.
A little bit about Grady:
Grady Smith resides in Bristol, FL where he spends most
of his time following in the footsteps of the ancient shell
engravers. "I feel as if it is in my blood; that I am destined to carry on the ways of my Creek Ancestors", says Grady. Shell carving is not something he does just part of the day, it is something that stays with him in his dreams at night and the moment he wakes up.
Always having a love for shells, as a child Grady would tie
a cord around a shell and wear it until it fell off. Sometimes they would be decorated with feathers and beads of bone. "It's a spiritual experience; it's fueled by love and powered by the greater good", Grady explains.
Most of the designs Grady carves are taken from ancient
Southeastern American Indian iconography, however, he will considercustom designs upon request. Each piece is unique due to the cature of the shell and the temperament of the artist.
