Jonny Lipford
Jonny Lipford is a 19-year-old, self taught, recording artist from the northwest region of Florida. He began his journey with the Native American Flute at the age of 14, yet even at such a young age, Jonny knew this was no passing whim. This was indeed his destiny. His passion for the NA Flute and music in general is shaping his musical career sending him throughout the United States sharing his music with others. Jonny is considered by many to be an "Old Soul" His wisdom and outlook on life far exceeds his young age.
Along his journey he has been priviledged to share the stage with top-notch artists which include Mary Youngblood, Mark Holland, Jeff Ball, Arvel Bird, Michael DeMaria, as well as many other fine musicians. In August 2007 Jonny released his first album entitled, "Transitions: Out of the Flames & Into the Wind", in which he composed and performed all of the music. This album features a variety of styles with influences from genres such as blues, jazz, latin, pop, and many others all blended with the Native American Flute. Along with playing the NA Flute, Jonny also plays many other instruments all by ear. Though he cannot read music, he understands it and has a great sense of melody.
Jonny's music has captivated the hearts of many listeners world-wide. His music has been recognized by many radio stations including Two Worlds, a weekly program devoted to two hours of all Native Music on WMNF 88.5 in Tampa, FL. Jonny was also featured in the Artists Spotlight on NativeRadio.com, which is the largest Native American Radio Station with streaming audio 24/7.
